This exhibit of small quilts, each 18” x 24”, was created in response to an invitation from the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center. The proceeds from the sale of these artworks are designated to help fund the hospital’s own patient support programs.
Our mission was to create an uplifting quilt display to support families and patients who often have long stays or many visits to the hospital. Sharing the beauty and inspiration that surrounds us seemed like a good way to do just that.
There was such a tremendous response from the nation-wide community of quilt artists, we were able to extend the exhibit to other hospitals and venues.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, installation dates changed and shifted but the exhibit became much more meaningful to us as curators, to our artist participants, and to the hospital visitors. We all needed an escape from the grim news of the day.
We hope you are inspired by this special collection. Take a moment and imagine yourself immersed in the beauty that surrounds us.
